BALLET
What some of the SDCYB community is saying...
SDCYB instructors teach rigor, precision, etiquette, and the joy of dance. My dancers are challenged and work hard, but SDCYB cultivates an environment where the students cheer for each other and support each other. They are honest and forthcoming with challenges, but they are also clear about the opportunities about how to improve. We trust the teachers, staff are kind and responsive, and we feel that we found just about the best non-profit youth organization for our children to learn, grow, build independence, and thrive outside of school.

Esteban del Río

Current SDCYB Parent

From taking pre-ballet at the age of five to performing my senior solo at the age of eighteen, SDCYB was my second home for as long as I can remember. I always think about the warm, welcoming environment I had the opportunity to grow up in. All the hours of training prepared me for a collegiate dance career which allowed me to grow as a dancer, artist and individual. My time at SDCYB was filled with amazing training, lifelong friendships, and countless memories!

Mia McCarthy

SDCYB Alumni

I began dancing with SDCYB in 1964. I was six years old and loved it immediately! I was a tall, lanky kid who was teased unmercifully. When I started dancing and discovered a deep love for performing and classical music, I felt free - and found a world of beauty, love and grace. Several years ago, I returned to Balboa Park to once again attend the adult ballet class at my beloved school. SDCYB has brought me great joy and I know there are many generations to come who will discover their own love of art through the ballet just like I did.
