Debby Lenz
Debby Lenz retired in 2019 after 36 years with the SD YMCA serving as the Executive Director at the Cameron Family YMCA from 2016-2019. She started her Y career as a program director, coach, dance teacher and choreographer for competitive gymnasts. She developed the program of 50 students into the largest YMCA gymnastics program in the country with over 1400 students and one of the top competitive gymnastics programs in the County and State. In 2003, serving as Associate Executive Director, Debby helped facilitate a partnership with the City of Santee resulting in the construction of The Cameron Family YMCA. She managed an almost $4million budget with over 8,000 members. Debby also raised in excess of $1 million for the Y throughout her career. In 2008 the Cameron Family YMCA’s Gymnastics Center was renamed the “Debby Lenz Gymnastics Center” in recognition of her achievement and dedication to advancing the Mission of the YMCA through the development of the Y’s gymnastics program. Debby taught ballet and choreographed at Hidden Valley in Carmel Valley and taught ballet at USD for the MFA/Old Globe Theater’s acting program. She has a BS in Human Services from Springfield College. Debby grew up outside Philadelphia and lives in North Park with husband, Robert Drake and enjoys walking her dogs, traveling and she attends ballet class regularly.
